Levi & Julia Ross’s Destination Wedding on August 22nd, 2022

Ok, let me start off by saying never in a million years did I imagine I would be invited to a destination wedding, none the less 5 whole days of fun IN COZUMEL! What an amazing opportunity and adventure I can add to my list. My husband was able to stowaway with me for several days while I did what I love and basked in the sunshine. Here are my “spark notes” about this wedding along with the custom layout for their photo album I created.

The Meet & Greet

This was my first time traveling to another country. The meet and greet was scheduled for the Saturday prior to the Wedding so we flew in on Friday. Let me just say, I am more than happy we flew in a day early. The climate was much different than the one I am used to which was quite a shock, plus my camera was not a fan and did not cooperate! I was constantly having to defog my lenses. Regardless of this chaos, the meet and greet went on without a hitch!

The Bride and Groom had an abundance of family and friends RSVP to their destination wedding. With over 60 guests who flew in from all over the U.S. they decided to have a meet and greet to familiarize everyone who was attending the wedding. The resort that hosted the wedding also hosted the guests and the meet and greet. Did I mention it was all inclusive!!!

The Bridal Breakfast

What better way to start out the best day of your life with a 5 star breakfast and mimosas! The mother of the bride provided each bridesmaid with a matching light pink satin robe with the appropriate title embroidered on the back. The bride stood out in her all white satin robe and blush vail. The MOB gave the sweetest toast to her only daughter who would become Mrs. Ross in just a few hours.

Wedding Prep

After breakfast I had some time to rest by the pool until the the rodeo began!

I started with the Bride and Bridesmaids who were getting ready inside of the resort spa. The stylists also flew to Cozumel from my hometown in Texas. Lindsey and Amanda from Shear Beauty in Granbury TX. I sat in the middle of the floor grabbing random photos for nearly an hour until it was time to take photos of the groomsmen. Going from air conditioning into the tropics made my camera angry again and I had to take extra time to defog my lenses.

The groom and groomsmen did a fabulous job and their photos turned out BEAUTIFULLY!
Once I was finished taking their photos I headed back to the bride. We took a few photos inside of the bridal suite instead of outside so their hair would not melt in the humidity. This was a big bummer but it all turned out perfect.

Julia’s father surprised her with a diamond necklace to finish her ensemble with “something new”, she also carried aa handkerchief that was embroidered by her great grandmother for her something old.

The Wedding Ceremony

The bride was driven to the ceremony from the resort spa by an attendant. She then walked with her dad (Bare footed) all the way down the sandy aisle. The aisle was sprinkled with pink rose petals which were then shaped into hearts. The guests watched her dad hand her off to her groom as the sun was starting to set. The weather was incredibly hot and humid so everyone was gifted a fan to help them through the ceremony.

The couple wrote their own vows which had a ton of laughs and both of their written vows bounced off of each others perfectly. They then did the sand ceremony and mixed their colors in a swirl pattern as an added symbol to their love. Then it was time for the rings. The groomsmen put together a cute plot starting with the last groomsmen. He held a box which opened up and out popped a smaller box. This continued down the line all the way to the best man where he pretended to lose the ring in the sand. All in good fun, they ended the prank rather quickly so the couple could say I Do. The ceremony was short and sweet with a fun send off of the parents and wedding party as they marched back down the aisle.

The Reception

The reception was held on the beach right next to where the ceremony took place. The resort served amazing authentic Mexican food and provided live entertainment with a very talented vocalist. The dance floor was lit up in neon lights which made the photos pop! The toasts were all great. I love listening to a best friends speech!! The brides dad led her around the dance floor for the Father of the Bride dance. It was amazing and hilarious at the same time.

The Bride was up to throw the bouquet to the next in line to get hitched. She threw it, her best friend caught it and proceeded to throw the bouquet as hard as she could right into the ocean. The next photo was another bridesmaid retrieving the bouquet from the ocean. You just never know what will take place during these occasions and I am so happy I caught it on camera!
